Chilly V, this sounds like an EIS (Electronic Ignition System) problem; it could also be a defective battery. In the W220, some radiator fans had the fan control unit attached; in others, they were separate, and the control unit could be replaced without replacing the fan. Being an early model, there is no AUX or MMI external pins or cables. But certainly the TV tuner is very intelligent.
